The subject of a three-day manhunt has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Christopher Paul Dulas, 38, of Hattiesburg was involved in a stand-off Sunday afternoon at the I-55 exit 211 in Grenada that shut down 12 miles of the interstate for several hours.
The preliminary investigation indicates Dulas, a United States Army trainer assigned to Camp Shelby, had kidnapped his estranged wife last Thursday and a missing person report was filed with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department.
An intensive search ensued in the Desoto National Forest where the couple was believed to be. A Crime Stoppers tip led Grenada County deputies to an RV park in the City of Grenada. The deputies were able to rescue Dulas’ wife, Angelica, and Dulas fled in a truck pulling a recreational vehicle.
Deputies discharged their weapons and Dulas lost control of the vehicle on the northbound entrance ramp to the interstate. Dulas mortally wounded himself just after 8:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing.

According to a tweet from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a section of I-55 near Grenada has been closed. Law enforcement has confirmed SWAT teams are approaching Christopher Paul Dulas, a man whom they believe kidnapped his wife Angelica last week.
Earlier reports show that Angelica has been recovered and is safe (according to the FCSD). Law enforcement are advising motorists to avoid the area. News Mississippi will have more info as it becomes available.

According to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department, Dulas and his wife went missing Thursday, September 7. Over the weekend, officials upgraded the case to kidnapping. Officials also confirm Christopher Dulas was stationed at Camp Shelby and is considered armed and dangerous.
