Southern Miss will not travel to Boone, NC for Saturday’s scheduled matchup against Appalachian State due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence.

App State has released the following statement regarding the decision.

“While the scope of the storm’s impact in the High Country is still unknown, university officials have worked in partnership with Southern Miss and emergency management personnel to reach a decision that is in the best interests of the safety and well-being of fans, student-athletes and game-day personnel.”

Officials from both schools are exploring options to reschedule the game.

Florence is expected to hit the Atlantic Coast later this week as a category 4 hurricane and bring potentially life-threatening conditions.

We will update this story as we receive new information.
