USM Winning Steak Still Going, Ole Miss Takes the Win at Auburn

HATTIESBURG, Miss.–It’s a winning season for the USM Golden Eagles and Saturday they kept the winning steak going, with visions of a bowl game in their minds, as they defeated the UTEP Miners, 34-13. Next week it’s a weekend off, but Nov. 14, it’s a battle at Rice University at 2:30.

For Ole Miss it was a sound defeat of the Auburn Tigers Saturday, bringing the win back to Oxford, 27-19. The Rebs get ready for the Razorbacks when they host Arkansas at Vaught-Hemingway at 2:30.

The Delta State Statesmen have posted five wins for the season, but none since Oct. 10 and their battles against Shorter. This weekend saw the Fighting Okra with another sound defeat, this time against the Univ. of North Alabama, in Florence, 43-17. Next week it’s Valdosta State in Cleveland at 4.

Maybe the personnel changes at Jackson State have paid off, but the Tigers were up against a winless Mississippi Valley State this weekend and came back to the capital city with the win, 26-16. Next week the Tigers host Alabama State for a night game at 6.

For Alcorn, and the SWAC battle against Southern University this weekend, it was an easy win, 48-7. Next week Prairie View A&M comes to Lorman for a 2 p.m. kick-off.
