VIDEO: Jackson police officer fired after video surfaces

JACKSON- According to the Jackson Police Department, an officer has been fired after being caught on video striking an unidentified handcuffed suspect. 

Commander Tyree Jones said that the incident happened on Saturday Feb. 11, 2017. Chief Lee Vance received a video of JPD officer Justin Roberts striking a suspect.

Internal Affairs immediately launched an investigation into the matter for a violation of policy and procedures.

After the investigation was completed on Monday Feb. 13, Roberts was terminated from the department by Chief Vance due to violations.
