Winter weather ahead

Update: 2:51 p.m.

Starting Tuesday night a freeze warning will be in effect for parts of north and central Mississippi.

”Temperature wise, low’s will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s [through the Delta] and then low’s just southwest of there, around Jackson, will be around the lower to middle 30s,” said Mark Mcallister with the National Weather Service.

While the showers have rolled out, the winter weather is on the way.

North Mississippi the rain clears out but the clouds will linger, with highs in the upper 40’s, lows in the 20’s.

Central Mississippi, Tuesday brings sunshine, highs in the upper 50’s, lows in the mid 30’s.

And for South Mississippi, sunshine for you as well, highs in the 60’s, 30’s for the overnight low.

A freeze watch is currently in effect for the following counties:

ttala; Bolivar; Carroll; Choctaw; Clay; Grenada; Holmes; Kemper; Lauderdale; Leake; Leflore; Lowndes; Montgomery; Neshoba; Newton; Noxubee; Oktibbeha; Scott; Sunflower; Webster; Winston. Alcorn; Benton; Calhoun; Chickasaw; Coahoma; De Soto; Itawamba; Lafayette; Lee; Marshall; Monroe; Panola; Pontotoc; Prentiss; Quitman; Tallahatchie; Tate; Tippah; Tishomingo; Tunica; Union; and Yalobusha counties are all under freeze watch until March 15th at noon.

A freeze warning is now in effect for:

Attala; Bolivar; Carroll; Choctaw; Clay; Grenada; Holmes; Kemper; Lauderdale; Leake; Leflore; Lowndes; Montgomery; Neshoba; Newton; Noxubee; Oktibbeha; Scott; Sunflower; Webster; Winston; Clarke; and Jasper counties until Wednesday at 10am. Tonight, let the pipes drip, cover the plants, and bring the pets inside.
