Worker Dies at Columbus Air Force Base

COLUMBUS, Miss.–A contract worker on the Columbus Air Force Base Wednesday afternoon died while on the job.

A press release from the CAFB states there was an industrial accident on a runway at 3 p.m. when a worker was fatally injured.

The individual is identified by the Tupelo Daily Journal as 24-year-old James Meyers of Columbus.

Meyers was a sub-contractor working on the base but was not employed by the CAFB according to the press release.

Officials with the CAFB would not comment on the case when News Mississippi spoke to the by phone and would only say the OSHA is now investigating the accident.
