In a top-ten cross-town rivalry, #5 Oak Grove (3-0) will head to #7 Hattiesburg (3-0). Oak Grove’s powerful running game, led by RB Orlando Simon (averaging 137 rushing yards per game so far) will face the stout Hattiesburg defense anchored by DE Letrelle Johnson.
The #3 Tupelo Golden Wave, also 3-0, will travel to face the #6 Brandon Bulldogs (2-1). Tupelo wanting to continue the momentum as electric QB Stephon McGlaun continues to rack up an average of more than 200 total yards per game.
Another cross-town rivalry taking place as 2-1 Oxford heads to Lafayette, who’s had some trouble getting started this season at 0-3.
And the Leake Central Gators are mourning the tragic loss of one of their players: Jerry Lee Triplett II drowned earlier this week: Triplett was only 15 years old. The Gators will host the Canton Tigers.
