When the New York Giants take the field this afternoon against the Oakland Raiders, Eli Manning will not be under center for the first time since 2004. Earlier this week, Giants HC Ben McAdoo announced that the former Ole Miss Rebel would be benched in favor of backup QB Geno Smith.

Archie Manning joined Supertalk Mississippi’s “Head 2 Head” on Tuesday to give some insight into how Eli felt about the decision and proved that no one is ever too old to get some fatherly advice; even if you’re a two-time Super Bowl winning QB.

McAdoo offered Eli the chance to start and then be taken out in order to keep his streak of 210 straight starts alive, but Archie shared Eli’s response to that offer.

Video of the interaction can be seen below:

The Giants’ offense has been depleted with injuries to wide receivers and plagued by poor offensive line play this season; resulting in Manning being sacked 26 times. In his 14th NFL season, Manning is completing 62% of his passes and has thrown for 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

The Giants are eliminated from playoff contention, currently sitting at 2-9. The Manning-less Giants have a late kickoff in Oakland today at 3:25 p.m.
