Basketball Player Arrested in Kidnapping Case Now at EMCC

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The ex-Alabama basketball player accused in a Kemper County kidnapping case has now enrolled at East Mississippi Community College and may play basketball there this season.

The Lions’ athletic department posted a picture of Devonta Pollard on its official Twitter account today. Pollard was a prized signee in the 2012 class from Porterville, Miss.  He left the team in Alabama after being arrested over the summer.

He was one of six people charged in the kidnapping of a 6-year-old from her elementary school.  Police say Pollard delivered tools and drove another suspect in the kidnapping.  If convicted he faces up to five years in prison.

Pollard’s mother, Jessie May Brown Pollard is accused of masterminding the scheme.
