Harrison County authorities are investigating the death of a Biloxi woman.

Around 4:21 a.m. on Sunday officers from the D’Iberville Police Department responded to a 911 call when a driver called saying that they had run over a person lying in the middle of the road according to Chief Wayne Payne.

The D’Iberville Fire Department along with American Medical Response arrived and pronounced the individual deceased.

Lieutenant Jason King said the victim has been identified as 32 year old black female Erin Hamilton of Biloxi, Mississippi. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and is ongoing and fluid.

King said that at this time they are unsure as to whether or not Hamilton was deceased at the time of her being run over. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove responded to the scene and is currently assisting in the investigation.

Gary Hargrove is having the body sent to Jackson for autopsy at the state crime lab where more information concerning the exact cause of death is pending.

The D’Iberville Police Department is requesting that anyone with information on Hamilton’s whereabouts on the evening of Saturday January 20, 2018, and, or morning of Sunday January 21, 2018, to contact the D’Iberville Police Department or the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.
