Columbus Plant Finally Getting Cleaned Up

COLUMBUS, Miss. – They’re finally gonna clean up the old Kerr-McGee plant.

The 90-acre site has been closed since 2003, the problem being Creosote. Creosote is a carcinogen and apparently there are said to be unsafe levels on the property.

The EPA has designated 68 million dollars to help fund the clean up.

Those funds were taken out of an over $5 Billion settlement between the federal government and the Anardarko Petroleum Group.
