PASCAGOULA COUNTY, Miss. — Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence says Sheriff Mike Byrd, who is facing 31 criminal charges, is in contempt of court. Lawrence filed a motion in circuit court claiming Byrd has been contacting witnesses and asking them questions about their testimony in such a way that could place pressure on them to not testify truthfully.
Byrd has been out on bond since August 30. Lawrence wants his bond revoked.
