Dancer’s Death Case Moves to Murder Charge

U.S. Marshals have formally charged Margaret Sanchez with second degree murder for the death of a New Orleans dancer whose body parts washed ashore on a Hancock County beach in 2012.

Sanchez was arrested Wednesday morning at her parent’s home and taken to the Kenner jail in Louisiana.  Hancock County investigators had said she tried to hire Jaren Lockhart to work a private party before Lockhart disappeared.

Lockhart’s torso was found on a Bay St. Louis beach in June 2012.  Her other body parts later showed up on nearby beaches.  She had been stabbed in the chest.

Sanchez is one of two suspects in the case.  The other one, Terry Speaks, is in jail in New York on an unrelated charge.  He’s scheduled for release in October.
