Date/Timeline Set for McDaniel Election Challenge

 JONES COUNTY, Miss. – The trial in Senator Chris McDaniel’s challenge of the GOP June primary election has been set for September 15 in Jones County. 

Judge Hollis McGehee disclosed the Scheduling Order for McDaniel v. Thad Cochran Thursday.  According to it, a motions hearing will be held August 28; discovery should be completed by September 10; the defense has to have exhibits and a witness list turned in by September 11, pre-trial conference will be held September 12; and the trial will start September 15 at 9:00 a.m.

McGehee expects the trial to move quickly.  His order said plaintiff McDaniel would be given 10 days  to present his case; Cochran five days and then each will be allowed up to one full day for rebuttal.  He said in his order that “in no event shall the trail of this matter extend beyond FridayOctober, 3, 2014.”
