Over 5,000 Entergy Mississippi customers are without power today. After last night’s heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, some Mississippians remain out of power.

“Last night a line of thunderstorms moved through the state and at one point we had as many as 16,000 customers without power and that was in as many as 31 of the 45 Mississippi counties that we serve,” said Mara Hartmann spokesperson for Entergy Mississippi. “We are currently down to a little more than 5,000 customers without power. We have activated our state storm command center and have deployed assessment and restoration crews to all of the damaged areas.”

Hartmann said they expect to have all of the customers’ power restored late Wednesday, although there may be a few outages carried over into Thursday.
