Freeze Signs Deal With Ole Miss, Salary Kept Mum For Now

OXFORD, Miss.–The deal to keep Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss was finalized Tuesday, but exactly what he will be paid is being kept under wraps for now. The school may make an official announcement soon, though.

“We’ll kind of keep that,” said Ole Miss Athletic Dir. Ross Bjork on Head to Head Tuesday. “We’ve got some stuff that we’d like to announce the next couple of weeks related to our stadium, and so the key message is that Ole Miss continues to invest in football.”

Bjork said he and Freeze negotiated over the weekend and got the deal finalized Monday night.

“This wasn’t about leverage or positioning. This was about, what do we do to secure the right guy for Ole Miss football.”

He said he feels that Freeze’s Mississippi ties and his pride in his home state probably was a factor in his decision to stay at Ole Miss.

Several source’s had the new salary at around $4 million per year.
