Handcuffs, His Child and Deputies Doesn’t Stop Man from Taking Off on Foot

JONES COUNTY, Miss. – A Jones County man, accused of running from police and leaving his child behind, has turned himself in.

The man, who has not been identified, was pulled over Sunday night after being spotted in a car that had been reported missing.  Officers said he was driving carelessly too and had his 5-year-old son with him. A breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol content level was nearly twice the legal limit.  That’s when deputies say the man, who was handcuffed, ran, abandoning his child.  The boy’s mom eventually picked him up.

Deputies said when the man turned himself in Monday, he was still in handcuffs.  He was charged with DUI with a child in a vehicle.
