A man living in Mississippi was arrested and taken back to Louisiana to face charges for the sexual abuse of a child.

37-year-old William Kersh was living in Leland, Mississippi, but authorities from his hometown of Union Parish, Louisiana issued an arrest warrant stemming from an investigation into sexual assault claims made against him. According to a news release from the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, the victim was 11-years-old at the time of the abuse.

Now an 18-year-old, the victim continues to undergo counseling for depression and was able to detail “many episodes of sexual abuse” to detectives and forensic counselors at Pine Hills Advocacy Center in Ruston, Sheriff Dusty Gates said.

Kersh left Union Parish in 2017, and he was arrested in Leland on May 29. He was then extradited back to Louisiana on June 1st. Kersh was then booked into the Union Parish Detention Center on charges of molestation of a juvenile and oral sexual battery.

His bond was set at $70,000.
