MDA Head Gets a Salary Boost

 

JACKSON, Miss. — A big pay hike for the head of the Mississippi Development Authority and it’s not coming from your tax dollars.

Brent Christensen already makes $83,000 a year.  The Mississippi Partnership for Economic Development is giving him another $47,000.  That’s the maximum amount of the stipend private economic development groups can donate to the head of the MDA by law.  But they have to name the businesses giving the money.   Some argue that could lead to favoritism for those businesses.  While others insist it’s crazy to think the MDA head wouldn’t already know who’s giving him the money.
