A new Miss America has been crowned.

The pageant took place last night in Atlantic city and while Miss Mississippi did not win, Sam Haskell, Mississippi Native and Executive Director of the Miss America pageant said she represented our state beautifully.

“I tell the contestants that with every set of judges if we started over again today with a different set of judges you could have a completely different outcome,” said Haskell. “It’s those people’s opinion in that moment with those contestants and every single one of the young women who has been here with me and our staff and crew for two weeks is so incredible in her own right and is already a winner because she has already won in her state, but I just want everyone there to know that Anne Elizabeth represented beautifully, she is the sweetest, most beautiful young woman and I know everyone there is proud.”

The young woman to take the title of Miss America 2018 was Miss North Dakota, Cara Mund.

Mund is the first Miss North Dakota to win the title of Miss America.
