WASHINGTON, DC. — Should second amendment rights stop at the state line? Mississippi Senators Thad Cochran and Rodger Wicker do not think so. Both are co-sponsoring a bill that would require most states to recognize concealed carry permits from other states.
Under the bill, concealed carry permits would be treated almost like a driver’s license and would be respected in most states. A similar bill died last year in the U.S. House.
Opponents say the bill would allow people from states with loose requirements for concealed carry to bring guns into states with stricter standards.
