Mississippi celebrates 200th birthday with bike-centennial

West Point Growth Alliance to host Bike-Centennial.

The event will be held Saturday July 8 from 10 a.m. to noon in downtown West Point.

Attendees will be able to park at The Civic, and either ride their bike or walk along the Kitty Dill Walking Trail while learning the history of Mississippi and West Point from the origin of the state to the Civil Rights movement.

People attending the Bike-Centennial event will also learn fun facts and trivia about Mississippi.

Individuals participating in the biking portion of the event will start their trek at The Civic and the tour will end at The Library.

Other events include a blues band which will perform at the Blues Trail Marker, a display of historic photos along with a quilt display.

Each participant will be given a free ticket for homemade ice cream.

The event is free and open to the public of all ages.
