Mississippi Red Cross offers disaster response training

People interested in becoming Red Cross disaster response volunteers can attend “Just In Time” training at Red Cross offices in Hattiesburg and Gulfport, Tuesday, Aug. 29, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hattiesburg office is at 2020 Hardy Street. The Gulfport site is at 612 E. Pass Road. Register anytime to become a volunteer at redcross.org

To help people affected by Hurricane Harvey, visit redcross.org, call 1- 800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Please spread the word regarding rescue. This information may be helpful to people concerned about family and friends in Texas.

· If someone needs to be rescued, they can call trained rescue professionals at 911 or the U.S. Coast Guard at these numbers: 281-464-4851, 281-464-4852, 281-464-4853, 281-464-4854, 281-464-4855.
· If someone needs to find a shelter, they can call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767), visit redcross.org, or download the free Red Cross Emergency App. The Emergency App is available in app stores by searching for the American Red Cross or going to redcross.org/apps.
· People in the affected areas can register themselves safe and well on the Red Cross site: https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php. Also, the site can be used to search for family and friends.

Please do not hesitate to contact the regional communications office for updates as Red Cross volunteers are deploying daily to support Hurricane Harvey relief.
