Mississippi’s bicentennial rouses new push in historical preservation

What’s your heritage? Would you fight to keep it alive? The Mississippi Heritage Foundation, celebrating a quarter century of work in the Magnolia State, works to hunt down and preserve some of the most iconic recollections of Mississippi history. Whether that heritage is in a building, piece of art, or even texts and legislation, they’re protecting it.

Around the state, you can find endangered buildings wrapped in a storied past: from one of the last wooden aircraft hangers in the country, to a country grocery store-turned multinational church that looks like it fell out of a dreamscape.
