The early signing day period has arrived and schools across the state of Mississippi are looking to reload. Can Ole Miss use the momentum following 4-star QB Matt Corral’s commitment despite some questions still surrounding the program after the NCAA’s ruling? Can Mississippi State continue the recruiting success that they had under Dan Mullen? And can Southern Miss build off of a successful season to bring some top talent to Hattiesburg?

Ole Miss: Class currently ranked #35 nationally by 247 Sports.

The Rebels began their morning with a major flip, their second of this recruiting period. UGA commit WR Elijah Moore decided to spurn the Bulldogs and instead head to Oxford. This comes just one day after WR Van Jefferson left Ole Miss to join the Florida Gators.

DT Quentin Bevins from Waynesboro has decided to stay in-state and play in the trenches for Ole Miss.

Another flip for the Rebels came in the form of DE James Williams, who was previously committed to Mississippi State. The three-star defensive end is from Callaway High School here in Mississippi.

An area in which the Rebels were lacking last season, was the linebacking core and they are attempting to sure that up today. Jaquez Jones, a four-star linebacker, from Tuscaloosa has committed to Ole Miss.

Cam White, from Madison, MS, has also stayed in-state. The DB played his high school ball at Madison Central.

Isiah Woullard is Mississippi’s all-time leading rusher in high school football history with just under 8,300 yards. He will be a mid-year enrollee.

Another RB added to the roster is Scottie Phillips from Ellisville, Mississippi. Phillips will be transferring from Jones County JC.

3-star DB Keidron Smith will head to Oxford to help secure the defensive backfield for the Rebels.

3-star recruit Jalen Cunningham from Alabama is listed as a OL and DL, but no matter where he lines up the 6’6, 345 pounder will be a force on the interior.

DT KD Hill is another Alabama born Ole Miss commit.

With the likely departure of Deontay Anderson, S Johnathon Hess has decided to join the Rebel squad.

The Rebels first recruit of the day was Demarcus Gregory, a 4-star WR from the state of South Carolina. Gregory missed his senior season due to a torn ACL.

Another linebacker has been added to the Rebels 2018 class; 3-star recruit Vernon Dasher.

Hal Northern, a 3-star recruit out of Northwest CC, will help bolster the Rebel DL in 2018.

Mississippi State: 2018 class currently sits at #21 nationally.

Perhaps the Bulldogs biggest target has made it official. The #1 player in the state of Mississippi, WR Malik Heath, has committed to Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs needed a couple of explosive WR and with the addition Heath, and now the #1 JUCO WR Stephen Guidry, new HC Joe Moorhead will have plenty of firepower for his offense.

Mississippi State has also brought in a pair of TE’s. Both Cameron Gardner and Brad Cumbest are Mississippi born and will stay in-state to play for the Bulldogs.

4-star DL Jaden Crumedy from Oak Grove High School will flourish alongside Jeffrey Simmons on the Bulldogs D-line.

Standing at 6’7, Kwatrivous Johnson will be a presence on the Mississippi State offensive line.

DB Shawn Preston has been committed to Bulldogs and made it official this morning.

4-star ATH Marcus Murphy has joined the Bulldogs 2018 class. While it’s unclear what position he will play, he’s bound the be a difference maker no matter where he lines up.

A signing day wouldn’t be complete without a talented QB. 4-star recruit Jalen Mayden has made his commitment official. Mayden is the 2nd ranked dual-threat QB from the state of Texas.

LB Jett Johnson, another Mississippi native has committed to MSU.

3-star TE Geor’quarius Spivey is the third TE to commit to the Bulldogs today.

3-star LB Sh’mar Kilby-Lane has also joined the 2018 class for MSU.

Southern Miss: 2018 class is ranked 83rd nationally.
