Police in Oxford detain an emu

OXFORD, Miss.- Police captured an unlikely fugitive over the weekend, an emu.

The Oxford Police Department got a call about an emu running through people’s backyards. Officer Cody Pruitt and his partner were on the case to find the bird.

They believe the family that owns the bird let it loose on purpose.

When they found it they used a rope to capture it on the side of the road, reports the Clarion Ledger. Pruitt took the bird to a local emu farm, but before he did he grabbed a quick selfie with the escapee.
