Probationer wanted in Holmes County homicide ends

A probationer who was wanted as a person of interest in a homicide that occurred Sunday in Holmes County is now in custody.

25 year-old Joseph Keys surrendered to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office yesterday morning on a county road near Lexington.

Keys had been sought for questioning in the shooting death of James Wise at the Yellow Tree Lounge on Highway 12 near Lexington.

He previously spent three years in prison after he was convicted of burglary/larceny of an unoccupied dwelling on September 28th , 2012. Keys received three years to serve and four years of probation. He was released on probation February 15th, 2015.
