Senator suggests an old design for the new state flag

JACKSON, Miss.- Mississippi Senator Derek Simmons has made a suggestion concerning the fate of the Mississippi State flag.

Simmons has recommended that they return to the original Magnolia Flag. This official state flag was the first and was adopted in 1861. The design contained a magnolia instead of the confederate battle flag.

Currently legislators are calling for a completely new design to the flag.

Mississippi is the only state that still has the confederate emblem on their state flag.
