Sex Offender Hired to Work for Family; Charged for Molesting their Three Kids

TUPELO, Miss.-  A Tupelo family hired a man to do yard work for them, but when they hired him, they didn’t realize they had just hired a registered sex offender.

Richard Earl Cooper, 57, of Pontotoc, was taken into custody on three counts of child molestation in Lee County.

Police say Cooper was doing yard work at the Lee County home where he molested the three children.

Cooper was first convicted as a sex offender in Calhoun County from a 1996 case.
