Special Election for New Mayor of Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. – A.J. Holloway is stepping down as mayor of Biloxi as of March 10.  He turned in his resignation to city council members Thursday, just weeks after he checked himself into an alcohol rehab program.

In his letter, he wrote that it has been an honor to serve but an accumulation of health issues led to his decision.

Holloway, the city’s longest serving Mayor, has served since 1993.  Next week city council members are expected to call a special election to replace him.  It should be held in about 60 days after they act.
