Steep fine for alleged No-Call voilations

If you have registered your number on the No-Call list but you’re still being bothered by pesky telemarketers, Northern Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley said, turn them in.

One company, Callvation LLC, has already been hit with a $240,000 fine for alleged violations of the states N0-Call law.

“These fines are in connection with the company making illegal calls to Mississippians registered on the ‘do not call’ list,” said Presley.

Presley said the company allegedly made 48 of the illegal calls and were hit with the fine in return. They also failed to register with the PSC as telephone solicitors and failed to purchase the Mississippi Do Not Call List.

“Telemarketers should take this fine as evidence that harassing citizens of Mississippi will not be tolerated by the Commission. These companies are brought to justice because of the complaints made by Mississippians and I applaud them for their work,” Presley said.

For anyone seeking to have their number added to the No Call list contact PSC at 1-900-356-6428 or online at www.psc.state.ms.us/nocall.
