Term Limits on State Congressman?

JACKSON, Miss. – Initiative 51 looks to ban state house and senate members from running for a third consecutive term. After skipping a third term, candidates would  then be able to run again for the same office.

Organizers are trying to gather more than 107,000 signatures in order to get the proposal on the ballot. Similar term limits were voted on and defeated in 1995 and 1999.

All signatures must be gathered within one year.
