Yesterday the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department received a call saying shots were fired around Old Jupiter Road.

Upon arrival deputies learned that several shots were fired by an unknown black male. The suspects got into a grey Ford vehicle and left the scene.

One suspect identified with the vehicle was located at a residence off Earnest Skiffer Road. Upon deputies arrival at the residence, the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence. The Simpson County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey’s SRT team to assist.

Sheriff Bailey responded with the Rankin County Sheriff Department’s SRT team. Other law enforcement from the MBN and MHP also arrived to assist. Tear gas canisters were used to get the suspect to exit the residence after several hours of failed attempts.

The suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody by law enforcement without any further incident. The suspect was transported to the Simpson County Jail on aggravated assault charges.

A second suspect believed to be involved was arrested at a separate location by a trooper from the MHP.

No information about how the third suspect was arrested has been released.

This case is an ongoing investigation and names of all three arrested are withheld at this time pending further investigation into the shooting.
