Three Get Jail Time for Poaching Turkeys

YALOBUSHA COUNTY, Miss. — Poaching turkeys will send three Yalobusha County men to jail for ten days. They were found out after the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fishers, and Parks (MDWFP) got a tip from a concerned citizen. The men plead guilty to all the charges, hunting the birds out of season and on private lands.

“Seasons and bag limits are put into place on the resource, when people act outside of those there could be a negative threat on the resource,” said Mark Beason with the MDWFP.

Jeffery C. Reeves, Randall A. Byford, and Anthony C. Davis said been poaching together for about 8 years. One said he’s bend doing it for 18. All of them were sentenced to 60 days behind bars but had 50 suspended. They also must pay fines ranging from $500 to $2,000.
