Tough Weekend for Ole Miss, State Stays at No. 1, Southern Takes Another Loss

OXFORD, Miss.–A broken leg will likely keep Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell out for the rest of the season. His leg was broken in Saturday’s home game loss to Auburn, 35 to 31. That loss puts Ole Miss at spot No. 12 in the latest AP poll, after two consecutive losses for the Rebs (7-2).

Meanwhile, in Starkville, Mississippi State continued on its winning streak. Saturday’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks saw State come back from an early lead by Arkansas and quarterback Dak Prescott throwing for 331 yards. The final was 17 to 10. State is now 8-0 for the season and 5-0 in the SEC.

Southern Miss lost a road game Saturday to the University of Texas at El Paso, 35 to 14.

It was another loss for Jackson State Saturday against Alabama A&M 25 to 14.

For Valley it was a 24 to 14 loss against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Delta State and the Fighting Okra continued their winning ways Saturday, though, at home with a 33 to 28 win over the University of North Alabama.
