Walmart Employee Says “No” to Robber

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.- When a robber approaches their targeted victim, fear is usually the expected response; well not so fast. Around 8:30 Thursday morning, a man walked into the Walmart on Highway 90 in Ocean Springs. He went to the Money Center, and handed the clerk a note threatening to kill the teller if she didn’t give him all the money in the drawers.

The clerk refused.

Ocean Springs Police Captain William Jackson told WLOX that there was a bit of a struggle when the clerk told the would-be robber “No” and refused to give him any money. The teller had to use a stapler to fend him off. Eventually, when the clerk called for a manager, the man took off empty-handed.

Captain Jackson told WLOX the suspect is a black man about six feet tall with a slim build, wearing a red hat and black hoodie. He reportedly got away in a 2000-2002 Silver Honda Accord with a sunroof with two other people inside. Police don’t yet know which direction the car went on Highway 90 after leaving the Walmart lot.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Ocean Springs Police Department at (228) 875-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
