NATCHEZ, Miss.- A woman is out of jail after she was brought in for shooting her husband, a Natchez police officer.

She used his service revolver and shot him in the chest. Violette Prater, 42, appeared before the Justice Court Monday where her bond was set at $10,000.

Police say the shooting began in the couples home Saturday. Her husband, Elvis Prater was hiding behind the bathroom door when she started shooting. Violette hit him in the chest with a .40-caliber hollow point bullet. It was a clean shot going in and out without hitting any major arteries.

Elvis was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. His wife is being charged with attempted murder.
