Police Searching For Armed Tate County Man

SARAH, Miss.- North Mississippi law enforcement is on the lookout for a man after he allegedly shot at a police officer during an early morning traffic stop.

The man then proceeded to flee the scene in a white 4-door car, but not long before crashing into a guard rail, at which point he took off on foot. While the officer did return fire, it is unknown at this time if the man was hit.

The search is combining the efforts of deputies from Tunica, Tate, and Panola counties as well as Mississippi Highway Patrol officers and Crenshaw Police Department. The traffic stop occurred around 1 a.m. in Sarah, near the Tate-Tunica county line. Deputies are searching the woods near the intersection of Highways 3 and 4, blocking off westbound traffic.
