Scott County Hires Kosciusko Superintendent

KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–The Kosciusko school board had a special meeting Monday night and accepted Dr. Tony McGee’s resignation as superintendent. In a news release, the board said that McGee informed them he would be taking over a superintendent for Scott County Schools, a system that has been in trouble with academic accreditation.

McGee has consistently had a top-rated district with Kosciusko.

For Scott County, McGee’s leadership could mean a change in direction. In February 2014, the entire school board resigned as a condition to not be taken over by the state.

Audits concluded that the Scott County district had been in violation of 27 out of 31 academic accreditation standards.

It was unclear what McGee’s exact start date might be with Scott County, but his resignation from Kosciusko was immediate. The board there is beginning the search for both an interim superintendent and a permanent one, who will likely not be named for at least the first part of the school year.
