JACKSON, MISS– You’ve seen the huge plane that flies over Pearl and Flowood before. It gets taken out on routine spins from time to time. Wednesday was far from routine.
The A C-17 Globemaster III aircraft assigned to Flowood’s 172nd Airlift Wing lost a small plane part during training Wednesday.
The plane’s tail cone cover fell to the ground and landed in a Pearl neighborhood.No one was hurt. Investigators are looking into what happened.
The plane is used for transporting troops, aid drops, and medical evacuation.
