Community mourns after triple shooting, prayer and counseling meetings scheduled

PEARL, MISS– A Christmas Eve shooting in Pearl has left two dead and one man in the hospital.

Local media has reported that 22-year-old Matthew Wilson shot his girlfriend, her dad, and them himself.

Wilson and his girlfriend, 17 year-old Heather King, were pronounced dead at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

King’s father, whose name will not be released, is in stable condition at UMMC.

WJTV reported that King had brought her father with her in an attempt to break up with Wilson before the shooting started.

The shooting shocked the local community. Funtime Skateland in Pearl, where both Wilson’s family and King frequented, is hosting a prayer service Monday night from 6pm-8pm.

“Prayer service 12/26 6-8pm @ Funtime Skateland Pearl,” read the business’s Facebook page. “We encourage all youth who have been impacted by this (and other losses this year) to come for a time of processing and healing. There will be Pastors, youth pastors, counselors, and teachers to talk with children and parents that need it. Please be in fervant prayer with us for these families, friends, and the community of Pearl/Brandon at large. If you have any questions you can *private message us here or e-mail us at info@funtimeskate.com.”

Funtime Skateland is also the location of City Lights Church.
