Gulfport Police want to make leaders of area kids with summer camp

The Gulfport Police Department has a reputation for reaching out to community youth: from creating the Gulfport Police Explorers – a group of young, talented men and women who are learning the life of public service – to hosting the Gulfport Police Department Youth Leadership Program, designed to engage children ages 13-17 over a course of 2 months.

The program looks to teach lessons instilling self discipline, respect, integrity, honor, trust and character into kids. Program participants can expect to work on community projects under the instruction of school resource officers. Participants will meet weekdays 8am to 5pm, and the program will last May 31 – July 28.
