It’s all hands on deck as South Mississippi cleans up after Hurricane Nate made landfall on Sunday.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is working hard to clean up to roads and restore power to traffic lights and the I-110 bridge.
They have made significant efforts to clear sand from sections of U.S. Highway 90, 49, and Interstate 110. However, motorists should still seek another route while traveling for the time being.
Repair continues for traffic signals all along Highway 90. Those are still without power so take caution when driving. There have also been reports of pumpkins scattered throughout Highway 90 near Pass Christian.
Boats are not being permitted to cross under the I-110 bridge until power has been restored, however traffic is moving steadily across the bridge.
“Our number one priority is safety,” said Tom King, Transportation Director. “For your safety, we continue to ask motorists to remain off of U.S. 90 in the affected areas until our crews can complete clean-up efforts and restore power to traffic signals.”
