Alfred Rankins Jr. Named Alcorn State University President

JACKSON, Miss. — Alfred Rankins Jr. was chosen to be Alcorn State University’s new president by the State College board Tuesday afternoon.

Rankins visited with Alcorn workers and students Tuesday to address some questions they may have had for him before the decision was made.

Rankins is a Greenville native and Alcorn State alumnus. He also served as Mississippi Valley’s interim president in 2012. He replaces former president Christopher Brown II who stepped down in December 2013 while he was being investigated for purchasing violations.
