Another Pit Bull Attack on a Mississippi Child

HARRISVILLE, Miss.–It’s another pit bull attack on a Mississippi child, and this time the four-year-old girl victim is critical, with injuries to her face and body. Her grandfather and his girlfriend were locked up after the attack.

The girl was playing inside her granddad’s trailer when the pit bulls came inside the house and dragged her into the backyard, said Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis. That’s where the girl was mauled.

The grandfather, Donald Mullins, was able to shoot two of the three dogs involved in the attack. The third one got away.

Once the little girl was on the way to the hospital, Mullins and his girlfriend, Rita Tompkins, were arrested and charged with child endangerment. Mullins was also wounded when he tried to stop the dogs.

The sheriff told media that Mullins was keeping a total of 10 dogs on his land and they were all taken and put in the custody of the Miss. Animal Rescue League.

It was March 31 when three-year-old Christopher Malone of Thornton was mauled to death by two pit bulls in an unrelated incident in Holmes County.

Since then Sheriff Willie March has been advocating for a ban on the dogs.
