Armed Apostles: Mississippi Senate Passes Church Protection Act

JACKSON, MISS— The Mississippi Senate has passed the Mississippi Church Protection Act 36-14.

The bill, authored by Representative Andy Gipson, who is also a pastor, would allow for guns to be brought into church by members of a church security committee, so long as the committee members have enhanced carry permits.

Rep. Gipson says this bill was motivated by the church shooting in South Carolina.

It wasn’t just brought up and voted on in the Senate. Hours of debate discussed not only the lawfulness of this bill, but how it lines up with Scripture.

The bill is now headed back to the House for more discussion.
