Man Thrown From Boat, Friend Charged With Drugs

MOSS POINT, Miss.–A boat carrying two Alabama men may have hit something when it overturned in the Escatawpa River near Moss Point Friday. The body of 55-year-old Timothy Gordon was recovered Saturday. His buddy, who was rescued Friday, is facing drug charges.

Officials who were involved in the rescue and recovery effort said pot may have been a factor in the accident after finding the drug on board the 14 ft. john boat the men were using for fishing.

In fact, there was enough marijuana in possession of 40-year-old Curtis Goleman, say cops, that he was charged with felony possession.

An autopsy was scheduled for Gordon and toxicology tests were expected to be performed.

Callers to the sheriff’s dept. said the boat may have hit some debris. There is also speculation that a net they were using may have become caught in the boat’s propeller. The accident is still under investigation.
