NEW AUGUSTA, Miss.- The search continues for 37-year-old Jason Elliot Mazingo, who has now been on the run from the Perry County jail for over 24 hours. WDAM is reporting that Mazingo ditched the ’85 Toyota pickup he originally had upon his escape for an ’03 white GMC Envoy at Paul B. Johnson State Park. The vehicle has wildlife stickers on either side.
He used plastic spoons to jam the lock on his cell door so when they close it, it appeared to be locked but actually wasn’t. He escaped around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Perry County authorities don’t consider him to be armed, but they do recommend that you use caution if you come in contact with him.
