Not Making Jackpot: Some Mississippi Casinos Are Winning Less Than Last Year

JACKSON, Miss– The coastal casinos are barely doing better, but the river casinos in Mississippi are winning a good bit less than this time last year.

Mississippi’s money games aren’t making money like they have made in the past. Mississippi Department of Revenue numbers show that November 2014 made five percent less than November 2013, reports WJTV.

While the coastal casinos are winning more than last year, it’s not a lot. Nearly eighty-three million dollars, but that’s up only one percent from this time last year. The river casinos have only brought in around seventy-three million, which is down ten percent from last year.

Even with that massive loss in the river casinos, the coastal casinos are still doing better than last year, despite losing Margaritaville.  The October casino numbers showed a great increase, thanks to the casinos lining the coast.

The report excludes the Choctaw casinos, as they are not required to report winnings to the state.
