Missing Person Case Now A Murder Investigation

GREENE COUNTY, Miss. – Human remains found at the bottom of a Greene County pond are believed to be those of a man missing for two years.

Donovan Cowart, who was 26 years-old at the time, disappeared from George County in January of 2013.  Investigators now believe he was murdered and his body dumped in the pond off Double Bridge Road.  Welford McCarty and Robert Stevens were arrested Tuesday and were charged with murder.

Cowart’s body has been set to the state crime lab.
